A genuinely rare and unusual amp from Fender’s late “silverface”-era Fullerton production, the Fender 75 was one of the last hand-wired amplifiers Fender built before the Paul Rivera-era redesigns arrived. Produced only briefly between 1980 and 1982, this 75-watt channel-switching combo offers a huge, versatile tonal palette that’s genuinely different from the more common Twins and Deluxes of the era.
Loaded with a 15” speaker, this configuration gives the amp a bigger, more lush, rounder low end than the 12” version — players often describe it as sitting in different sonic territory entirely, closer to a bass-friendly warmth than a typical Fender combo. Under the hood are dual 6L6 power tubes alongside 12AX7 and 12AT7 preamp tubes, delivering big, glassy Fender clean tones on the “Rhythm” channel and a genuinely useful, gritty Lead channel with its own drive and master volume controls.
Clever features include push-pull boost controls on the Treble, Middle, and Bass knobs for extra tonal flexibility, plus a High/Low power switch that drops output from 75 watts down to a more manageable 15 watts — ideal for coaxing tube saturation at lower volumes. Onboard spring reverb rounds out the tone shaping, and this example comes complete with its original two-button footswitch for channel and reverb switching.
