The Granddaddy of them all, introduced in July 1976 the SG2000 was the result of a collaboration between Carlos Santana and Yamaha. It remained the Flagship of the SG series until the end of production in 1988. Featuring a mahogany body and maple top, through neck and brass sustain plate it was obvious that this guitar was based upon another popular US made electric however Yamaha had that concept, improved upon it and also created a guitar with an identity of it’s own.

Original SG2000 specs:
Body. Mahogany with carved maple top, T-Cross maple structure
Neck. Laminated rock maple and mahogany through neck, Ebony fretboard, 22 frets, 24 3/4 scale length, 13″ radius.
Position markers. Mother of Pearl split.
Hardware. Gold plated, Harp and Scroll motif on tailpiece, brass sustain block under bridge.
Pickups. “Two anti hum high output shielded pickups, tri mounted to allow for parallel adjustment.
Finish. Polyurethane.
Colours. Black, Cherry Sunburst, Brown (Tobacco) Sunburst, Cherry, Brown (Tobacco).
Tuning pegs. Gold finish, kidney shaped knobs, precise torque tuners 15:1 ratio.
